Download Membership Application Who can join the FOP? FOP Lodge 43 membership is available to all Local, State and Federal active sworn or retired officers. What does it cost?
Why Join the FOP? As a member of the nation's largest law enforcement organization, you are entitled to all the benefits and privileges of an FOP member at the Local, State and National Lodges. You’ll receive your national identification card each year which will list your national member number. With this number, you can access the Grand Lodge, State Lodge and FOP Connect informational website. Throughout the year, our lodge offers several free and sponsored events, which include our Tallahassee Memorial Trip, June Conference, and Octoberfest to name a few. Our monthly meetings take place on the third Tuesday of every month with dinner at 6:00 pm and a business meeting to follow at 7:00pm. Our lodge is located at 550 Commerce Drive in Largo and has both a large meeting hall with full kitchen facilities and a private member's lounge which is accessible to members 24-hours a day. The Member’s Lounge is equipped with games, cold beverages, poker table, television and wireless internet access. You’re welcome to bring your guests. Access to the lounge is through the “Member’s Lounge” door, which is equipped with card key access. The lodge hall is also available for rental to members at a reduced rate of $75.00 per hour, which includes use of all tables, chairs and kitchen facilities. We offer you easy direct access to members of the Executive Board and Legal Counsel through an automated phone system. By calling the lodge at 586-6754, you’ll be routed to a phone tree with several contact options. Upon selecting the person you wish to speak with, you’ll be directly transferred to their cellphone. Keep in mind, like you, board members work varying shifts and may need to call you back. In the event of an emergency that requires an immediate response, we're always available at our 24-hour FOP-HELP line (367-4357). You’ll hear a brief message while our system simultaneously dials several members of our emergency call out team, one of whom will answer your call and make all arrangements to assist you. As an active lodge member, the FOP provides you with legal representation involving internal investigations, on-scene shootings, EEOC matters, FMLA issues, civil and criminal matters, and FDLE administrative hearings resulting from your official duties. Our General Counsel, Ken Afienko, brings a unique perspective to our lodge as he has been an active law enforcement officer since 1981 and has represented the FOP since 2001. Ken has represented over 100 officers in duty-related shootings and has also successfully arbitrated many disciplinary cases for our members. Ken is very passionate about his legal representation and always provides dedicated and aggressive representation while keeping your best interests in mind. Ken also provides free wills for members and their spouses and provides discounted legal services involving Personal Injury, Family Law and other legal matters. Ken's website can be found at: http://foplawyer.com/ In an effort to keep our membership up to date and informed, we maintain a website, send periodic E-mail updates and publish a monthly online newsletter.
