FOP 43 MOVES FORWARD TO REPRESENT SPPD
As a result of the proposed contracts being voted down, the window of opportunity for SPPD bargaining units to choose the FOP as their new representative is open. In order to proceed, the FOP must first obtain enough signed PERC Cards to file with the state prior to moving forward in the process and sheduling a vote on the matter.
What is a PERC Card and Why is it necessary?
A PERC Card is simply a form that indicates that the member signing it is interested in being represented by the organization listed on the form. Filling out the form does not guarantee a change or dictate how you must vote in any forthcoming election. It simply establishes interest by the member to see the process move forward.
PERC is the governing agency that oversees collective bargaining and all related activities. In order for a bargaining unit to change representatives, a percentage of the members in the bargaining unit must show interest (by signing a PERC Card) for the process to move forward.
NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE A CHANGE!!
If you are a member of either SPPD bargaining unit, download the appropriate form and return the printed/signed original to us as soon as possible:
Officers/Technician PERC Card
Sergeant/Lieutenant PERC Card
Additionally, please take a moment to read a letter from FOP State President Bobby Jenkins.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact FOP 43 President Doug Weaver.
